Economics and Current Events

Taught by: Darby Kennedy

Students will work to understand the basic concepts of economics (scarcity, opportunity cost, supply & demand, competition, cost and benefits, monetary and fiscal policy, etc) using current news topics, interactive games, and discussion.


Homework will include reading or watching information that will then be used in class and a weekly journal response. Sources include MRU.org, Crash Course, NPR & Marketplace Econ 101, and others.

Students can choose to take the class for a grade. Grades will be recorded based on class participation, journal responses, and a final project.

Weekly homework: 1-2 hours per week
