Psychology: An Exploration

This exploration is an overview course designed to introduce students to the varied topics within the field of psychology and is intended for high school level students. Topics covered are those recommended by the American Psychological Association(APA) National Standards for High School Psychology. These standards are organized into seven broad content domains: Scientific Inquiry, Biopsychology, Development and Learning, Sociocultural Context, Cognition, Individual Variations, and Applications of Psychological Science.
There will be reading expected each week in order to facilitate classroom discussion and activities. There will also be projects throughout the year to explore course content. Homework typically includes reading, watching videos, preparing projects, and/or listening to a podcast. Work done in advance of class prepares students to actively take part in the class discussions. Readings will be shared via Google Classroom. Students must have a gmail account and Google Classroom account.
